From July 1, Turkey restricts the residence of foreigners in a number of residential areas of cities. This was announced by Interior Minister Suleiman Soylu. The quota for the residence of foreigners in certain areas should not exceed 20% of the total population. Previously, this quota reached 25%. Thus, at least 1,200 districts will be closed to foreign nationals. It is noted that both foreigners with residence permits and protection status will be subject to restrictions. A specific list of districts and cities is not specified.
Restrictive measures were taken in connection with the influx of Syrian refugees to Turkey, the total number of which is already 3 million people.
